- You need Crust————————
- Take 2 muerbeteig crust see my recipe
- Take Cherry Berry———————
- Take 1 quart strawberries and their juice
- Provide 1-1/2 tablespoons cornstarch
- Prepare 16 ounces maraschino cherries with juices
- You need 4 large eggs
- Prepare 1/2 cup sugar
- Use 16 ounces strawberry glaze
- Prepare 8 ounces cream cheese
- You need 1-1/2 tablespoons cornstarch
- Take Topping———————–
- Use 1/4 cup Demerara sugar
Instructions to make Cherry Berry Bake:
- Make the crust and refrigerate two hours.
- Preheat oven 350 degrees Fahrenheit get the cream cheese at room temperature.
- Heat a cast iron skillet to warm but not super hot. Add half the crust to the pan.
- Mix the eggs, cherry juice, cornstarch, sugar, and cream cheese.
- Add the cream cheese mixture to the top of the muerbeteig crust you have in the skillet spreading it out covering the crust. Put into the oven for 15 minutes. Then take out and let cool for 10 minutes.
- Chop the cherries except 8. Set the 8 aside.
- In a pot add the cornstarch, chopped cherries, strawberries, and strawberry glaze. Bring to a boil, then simmer till just thickened.
- After its thickened add the berry cherry mixture to the top of the cream cheese mixture on top of crust. Then swirl it mixing it up good.
- Roll the second muerbeteig crust out and cut into strips to make a lattice top.
- Weave the lattice crust on top sprinkle with Demerara sugar. Put into oven and bake for 45 minutes.
